F/O John Richard Welch, RAAF 413918 was aged 29 when he died.

F/O  John Richard Welch was the son of John Frederick and Elizabeth Helen Welch of Concord, New South Wales, Australia.

In all, F/O  Welch took part in four operations starting with his first on August 9/10, 1943 where he was the 2nd pilot to W/C  P. N. Jennings. It was an operation to bomb Mannheim. On his second op and his first as captain, he flew ED627(EM-N) on a raid to Milan. His forth op was his last.

His grave reference in the Durnbach War cemetery is 5.J.2.
